Our longtime pink twin tail girl nanako, who has always been known as our adorable Japanese-French girl, officially chose French nationality on the 31st August. 🇫🇷💕

She had been expected to make a nationality choice after turning 20, but somehow just left the whole thing hanging for quite a while. Very nanako, honestly lol. Now that she has decided to make the move to France, she chose French nationality and will be living there together with her mom. Well… technically, she is already living there 👀.

So what does this actually change? Probably not that much. 😂 She is still the same mysterious, unpredictable girl we all know and love ✨

While she was in university, studied English and French and became super comfortable speaking it. She even tried singing in French too, although apparently that was more of a fun little experiment than the start of a serious music project.

Her dad will continue being based in Yokohama, so nanako should still have plenty of reasons to come back to Japan. Her full name has always had this wonderfully international mix of English and French family names and middle names, with the very Japanese name nanako sitting right in the middle of it all.

From now on, it looks like she may mainly return to Japan whenever there are コンナノコ recording sessions, photo shoots, or other project activities with the members.🎧

And speaking of konanoko ft….

Things have definitely been complicated over the years. During the group’s American study-abroad and tour period, nanako was denied entry twice, and after that there were all kinds of twists and turns behind the scenes. At one point, a lot of the group’s activities ended up being carried by just one member 😭.

Now usaco seems to be heading toward her own solo path as a DJ 🎧✨

So… could konanoko basically become nanako’s personal unit from here? Maybe. I’ll try to hear the full story later because there are definitely still some details we need.

P.S. I haven’t heard what her two younger sisters (Black Nanako and Nekoba Nanaa) are planning to do. For now, both of them are still Japanese lol. Whatever happens next, one thing seems pretty clear!
